About Christian Action League

CAL Logo

The Christian Action League of North Carolina has stood as a bastion of Christian values in the public policy arena for more than 75 years. With a rich history dating back to its founding, the League has championed cardinal social issues such as the inherent dignity and divine significance of the two sexes (male and female), traditional roles for family life, the inherent dignity of the unborn, and freedom of religious expression, all of which are rooted in conventional Christian teaching derived from the Holy Scriptures.

At the forefront of its mission is the belief that adherence to these timeless truths is not only conducive to individual happiness but also essential for human flourishing. Recognizing the biblical mandate to be stewards of one another’s well-being, the League actively engages in shaping government policies that prioritize the common good and uphold the rights and dignity of every citizen.

With a dedicated full-time lobbying presence in the North Carolina General Assembly, the League addresses a wide range of pressing issues, including but not limited to those previously mentioned. Additionally, it has earned recognition for its positive influence on matters such as education, human trafficking, substance abuse, pornography, gambling, gun rights, National Motto displays (In God We Trust), public health policies related to alcohol consumption, and more.

Throughout its history, alcohol policy has been a signature issue for the Christian Action League. While promoting abstinence as the preferred option for personal well-being, the League recognizes that alcohol is a legal product and is not committed to a restoration of Prohibition.

However, the League does emphasize the substantial risks posed by alcohol to public health and safety. Through proactive advocacy and policy initiatives, the League is dedicated to mitigating alcohol-related harms and cultivating a safer environment for all members of society.

Central to its mission is the empowerment of Christians to actively participate in the political process, guided by the biblical principles of being both salt and light in society. The League encourages churches and individuals to engage in prayer, financial support, and advocacy to effect positive change in the public square.

In essence, the Christian Action League remains steadfast in its conviction that Christian action is the ultimate remedy for combating evil and injustice in society. Through its unwavering commitment to biblical values and engagement in civic affairs, the Christian Action League continues to be a beacon of hope and transformation in North Carolina and beyond.

The League earnestly believes and is committed to its slogan:
