“When a person takes a sip of lukewarm coffee, immediately he wants to ‘spue’ it out of his mouth. Now Jesus feels that way about some Christians. They are neither hot nor cold. They nauseate him. He wants to spue them out of his mouth (Rev. 3:14-22).
“Here is the harm in lukewarmness. You are an example for someone, you are exhibit ‘A’ for the Savior. When the outside world sees that you don’t have something different from them, they can conclude that there is nothing to religion. You would do less harm as an infidel than as a lukewarm Christian. The greatest blight on the churches today is not drunkenness, immorality or profanity, but lukewarmness. Christ and Christianity mean very little to the majority of church members. And the world knows it and is influenced by it.”
