Big Mac fans and Quarter Pounder lovers who had bypassed the Golden Arches drive-through in response to the restaurant’s overt support of the homosexual agenda can celebrate with a round of fries for the entire family.
Less than six months after the American Family Association had called for a boycott of McDonald’s, the hamburger giant has announced that it will remain neutral in the culture war regarding homosexual marriage and that its vice president, Richard Ellis, is stepping down from his post on the board of directors of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
In light of McDonald’s response, the AFA announced this week that it is calling off the boycott, as is the Christian Action League of North Carolina .
“This is good news that we are glad to share,” said the Rev. Mark Creech, the League’s executive director. The CAL had joined the call for a boycott last month.
McDonald’s also told the AFA that the company has no plans to renew its membership in NGLCC when it expires in December.
“It is our policy to not be involved in political and social issues. McDonald’s remains neutral on same sex marriage or any ‘homosexual agenda’ as defined by the American Family Association,” according to company e-mail.
