REMINDER: Decision America Tour with Franklin Graham Will Make Its Final Stop in Raleigh, This Coming Thursday

Editor’s Note: In an earlier post the Christian Action League mistakenly announced the Decision America Tour was coming this Wednesday. The correct day is Thursday. We apologize for the error.

The Christian Action League reminds its supporters that the Decision America Tour with Franklin Graham will make its final stop in Raleigh, this coming Thursday, October 13th, starting at 12 noon, on the south side of the capital lawn downtown.

Graham, son of world-renowned evangelist, Dr. Billy Graham, has been leading the tour to all 50 states. The tour challenges Christians to pray for America and its leaders based on 2 Chronicles 7:14, which records God’s promise, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Graham calls on the Christians who attend by the thousands to repent of their sins, to take a stand for righteousness, and to live out their faith at home and in public life.

On Tuesday of this week, the tour was at the capitol in Lansing, Michigan, where nearly 9,000 people were in attendance. The next day, Wednesday, the tour visited the capitol of Indiana, home of Governor Mike Pence, where 8400 people gathered for prayer and the preaching of God’s Word. On Thursday, Graham and members of his team were in Columbus, Ohio, with a crowd upwards of 8,000. Remaining meetings will be held in Annapolis, Maryland, Richmond, Virginia, and then the tour ends in Raleigh on Thursday.

In a recent Facebook post about his time in Indiana, Graham wrote, “What a blessing to see so many people who care deeply about the future of this country – and who know that our hope lies in God alone. We confessed our sins, the sins of our fathers, and the sins of this nation, asking God to heal our land. Jesus said, ‘For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them’” (Matthew 18:20).

Dr. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, said the Decision America tour is possibly the most important work taking place in the country today. Its emphasis is on the need for revival in the church and a needed spiritual awakening to sweep the land. “I’m hoping Christians will show up on the south side of the capitol building with the largest attendance of any of the other states,” he said.

“Sometimes I look at what’s happening in this country and I wonder if there’s any hope. We’ve strayed so far. Our problems are like the layers of an onion, they’re multiple on many levels,” continued Dr. Creech. “Our churches are doctrinally corrupted, many having abandoned the fundamental tenants of the faith. Christians booze it up, smoke dope, and fornicate just like the unbelieving world. We’re covetous, materialistic, and love the false prophets who preach health and wealth, while rejecting the sacrificial life of the Cross preached and demonstrated by Jesus. Rather than being transformers of the culture, we are mostly a reflection of the value system from which the Savior died to redeem us. Worse still, any believer who has the courage to stand up against these things is quickly shot down by his own brethren for allegedly being Pharisaical, legalistic, self-righteous, or holier-than-thou.”

“Freedom in this country,” he persisted, “is under severe threat of being gutted because God’s own people have seemingly forgotten that the righteous are the great stewards of the sacred gift of liberty. And look what we’ve done with it. We don’t even vote! What a poor demonstration of leadership on our part! Its God’s own people, her preachers, her church leaders, her congregants in houses of worship that must first repent of their wicked ways.”

Dr. Creech added a quote from Alexis de Tocqueville, saying, “‘Christianity is the companion of liberty in all its conflicts – the cradle of its infancy, and the divine source of its claims.’ We must either come back to this or freedom cannot be sustained.”

North Carolina is the home state of Franklin Graham.

In an email blast on Thursday, Graham wrote, “[O]ur nation’s moral foundation continues to crumble…[J]oin me at your state capitol next week…Plan now to bring your friends, family, and church. Let’s stand together for Jesus Christ.”
