“My favorite book in the Bible is the book of Genesis. It provides amazing facts about our origins, one of which is that before the great Flood people only ate plant-based food. Afterward, God gave permission to eat meat.
“John Calvin, in his commentaries on Genesis, emphasizes that this change reflected a broader shift in the relationship between humans and the rest of creation due to sin. Calvin said:
‘Before the flood, men were sustained only by the fruits of the earth; after the flood, they were permitted to use animal food, which was a new thing, and perhaps at first regarded with some repugnance.’
“If Calvin’s conjecture was right, it sounds like the first members of PETA might have been stowaways on Noah’s Ark!”
