JR Tolkien said the human heart longs for more than realistic fiction. He felt like fairytales & fantasy touch chords of desire deep in our souls. We long for such themes because WE WERE MADE FOR THEM! Born to be warriors. Born to be wild. Born to be full of childlike wonder. Born for another world. He even listed 5 of these themes. Our hearts long for:

  1. a timeless magical place.
  2. an escape from death.
  3. to meet heroic, extraordinary beings.
  4. to know perfect, eternal love.
  5. the final conquest over all evil.
